To overcome the common problem people faced as to what to give one’s spouse each year, an American author by the name of Emily Post, who wrote on the topic of etiquette, was the first to recommend a list of anniversary gift themes which was published in 1922 in her book titled 'Etiquette’. In that book, she listed suggestions for the first anniversary, followed by the fifth anniversary, and then every five years or so up until the 25th, and concluded with the 50th wedding anniversary. The American National Retail Jeweler Association expanded on this list in 1937 by filling in the missing years up to the 14th wedding anniversary, and the subsequent multiples of five up to the 50th year.
The Air-King recently returned to the Rolex line after being retired for a number of years. It's the only Rolex whose logo—the crown and signature—is printed in two different colors: green and yellow. The self-winding mechanical movement of this antimagnetic steel watch, which is waterproof to 330 feet, is also entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex.
Another twist on the tried and true blue and green anniversary “stones” is a set of agate coasters in deep jewel tones of sapphire and emerald. Much like a marriage partnership, the true beauty of these stones is found inside and created only over the course of many years — an analogy you can use as a jumping-off point for a thoughtful card to accompany them. The set includes four coasters, each between 3.5” and 4.5”, and each totally unique as the variations are naturally grown in the stone. They are selected for their fine ocean shades and polished to a party-ready sheen. He can put them to use in his man cave or perhaps now he will actually use a coaster.
All that being said, personalized gifts add a bit more oomph by letting the person know exactly how much you pay attention to them, or how in-tune you are with sentimental words and/or phrases. It can turn any gift from a simple object to something they’ll treasure for the rest of their lives. This writer has a customized Cross pen; it was an appropriate gift, given the profession, and engraved with one significant word. It’s still in use to this day and cherished above just about everything else. There’s some serious power behind personalization.

Jenna - I sent this crate to a long-term contractor of mine who deserved a cool and unique show of… more appreciation. He absolutely loved the gift (and probably the crate and duct tape wrapping even more!)--he said it totally made his day (and week!). I had the gift delivered to his office and he said all of his colleagues were standing around watching when it was delivered, wondering what it was and how in the heck he was going to open it. I wish I could have been there to see it! Thank, Man Crates! :D less
Make a Christmas list and check it twice! This cute homemade Christmas gift is a fun take on regular chalkboards. To make, paint the bottom of a wood crafts plank in a bright color that matches a friend or family member’s kitchen. Paint the surface of the plank with a clear chalkboard coating. Stamp numbers along the side using a solvent ink. Drill a hole large enough for a leather cord at the top of the plank; thread cord through hole. Be sure to include a couple of chalkboard markers—they also double as great stocking stuffers in the Christmas season.

Choose a pretty Christmas pattern, like poinsettias, and impress your coworkers with a crafty gift that's easy to make in bulk. Roll clay to 1/4-inch thickness on parchment paper and refrigerate for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the clay from refrigerator, keeping it on parchment, and place on an even surface. Press the rim of an ovenproof bowl into clay, and cut around bowl with a crafts knife. Press a rubber stamp into clay to create pattern; if it sticks, lightly oil stamp surface. Lightly oil inside of the bowl used as a circle template. Place clay circle in center of bowl, gently molding it to sides, then place in oven and bake as directed on clay package. Once cool, remove clay bowl from mold and lightly sand edges if necessary. We love this Christmas gift for family and friends, too.
