"Manly arts such as flying jets, riding cross country on a motorcycle, designing and building my own… more homes. Learning to paint with oils, running a small business, baking my own breads. Brewing beer, distilling and aging whisky. But I never bought a 5 pound pork belly until a week ago. Local butcher, apply the rub from Man Crates, bag and wait....but... I have never built my own cold smoker either. I had a week to complete that project. A little design and engineering from youtube and the web helped. Combination apple wood and hickory!! Stunning results. Perfection. Bacon with eggs, bacon with roasted brussels sprouts, bacon bits with tofu and vegetables and bacon with bacon." - Alan less
Cute Christmas gift ideas that are customizable always win, and that's why we love these homemade Christmas coasters for family and friends. Print silhouette clip art onto heavy white paper and cut out the shapes. Use a pencil to lightly trace each silhouette onto the center of a wooden plaque. Trace over the pencil lines using a wood-burning pen fitted with a narrow cone point. Fill in the outlines by burning the silhouettes with a flow point on a wood-burning pen. Apply two coats of glossy polyurethane sealer to the coasters, letting each coaster dry between coats. Paint the beveled edges of the coasters gray, and let the paint dry before adding a final coat of polyurethane sealer. Glue four felt circles to the bottom of each coaster.
He works his fingers to the bone, and he’s being given a serious promotion. The kind of promotion where there’s going to be a celebration. Whether you’re orchestrating it or not, it’s up to you to get something that really makes an impact. These events don’t call for functional items, but rather, significant and personalized trophy-style gifts. Engraved pens, embroidered briefcases (for their new office), or a new custom nameplate for their new desk. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination. We’re personal fans of blending a few items with commemoration, and function. Things like custom mugs, custom luggage sets (if their new job means they’ll be traveling a lot and things of the sort.
To overcome the common problem people faced as to what to give one’s spouse each year, an American author by the name of Emily Post, who wrote on the topic of etiquette, was the first to recommend a list of anniversary gift themes which was published in 1922 in her book titled 'Etiquette’. In that book, she listed suggestions for the first anniversary, followed by the fifth anniversary, and then every five years or so up until the 25th, and concluded with the 50th wedding anniversary. The American National Retail Jeweler Association expanded on this list in 1937 by filling in the missing years up to the 14th wedding anniversary, and the subsequent multiples of five up to the 50th year.

These slippers have a 5-star rating on Nordstrom from over 3,000 reviews! The Dakota slipper has been around for years, combining fashion and comfort into one. You can even wear the shoe outside, as it has a rubber sole. Speaking from experience, you can’t go wrong with UGG slippers as a gift. In the past six years, I have given a different pair of UGG slippers to my mom, grandmother, grandfather, fiancé, and brothers – and each time, they were a hit.
Instead of searching high and low for the perfect pillow, make this Christmas gift that you know your friend will love! Sketch a geometric design on a square piece of kraft paper to make a template, then trace onto fabric and cut to size. Stitch the shapes together and press the seams open. Cut solid-color fabric to make the back of the pillow covering. Stitch the front and back pieces, right sides together, leaving a small opening. Turn right side out, press, and stuff with a pillow form. Whipstitch the opening closed.

If your guy likes to meld their wardrobes with a more formal look, they’ve got a more refined taste for name-brand items that just come in higher quality. For them, it’s going to be more about the durability and fashion sense of the clothing over quantity. You don’t necessarily have to get an entirely new outfit, but a nice addition to their ever-amassing wardrobe is certainly a way to his heart.
You work with the guy, you want to get something nice, but you just don’t know where to go. One of the main reasons to get a restaurant gift card is to tell them, “You deserve a night off, so this one’s on me.” There’s a little bit of careful planning that should go into it, though. Depending on your relationship with this guy, you’ll know a few basic details, like what city or town they live in, or what’s along the road on the way to, or coming back from work. The last thing you want is to get a gift card to a restaurant that’s going to be out of their way; you’re trying to make it convenient for them to get a meal essentially for free, so look at what’s along the way. This is a simple gift card to grab that doesn’t take too much knowledge, but buyer beware: try to get a feel for any possible allergies before you send them out for lobster.

One more thing to take into account is the clip-on coupons you’ll see with a lot of online stores. These sometimes give you an extra 5% or 15% off, but then, there are some that benefit you in order to optimize their delivery procedures. If you’re getting this gift plenty early (which we’re about to discuss), you can opt-in for these little coupons, and get cash back rewards or digital downloads at discounted prices, just for delaying the delivery window by a few days or a week. If you’re getting the gift for someone, and it’ll be here in plenty of time, then why not treat yourself a bit?
I bought this for my daughter for her 23rd birthday. She loves mermaids. Arrived quick and in good order. When I gave it to her her sister and best friend were there and other excitement began. Why didn't you get me one too they both said as it was a joint celebration for both our daughter's birthday as they are only a few days apart. They all had to try it out and tell me the colors they want for theirs. It's a nice weight not to light or to heavy made very well and is long enough to to cover the whole body. I bought the blue/ purple which is more purple overall but I think any color would be great. You can put your feet though if you need to get up and walk if you want to. The fins give you extra to cover your feet from ... full review

When you portray your favorite person on a dinner plate, they'll feel like the guest of honor at every meal. Using a photo as a starting point, draw the shape and fine features of your muse onto a plain white plate using a porcelain paint pen. Use a paintbrush to add blush and hair. Keep acetone (nail polish remover works well) and tissues close to remove any mistakes. To set the paint, bake the plate according to the paint manufacturer's instructions. Although the plate should be food-safe, double-check the manufacturer's instructions or use it for decorative purposes only.
This tome will make a statement with any wine lover. Hand-bound and presented in a large wooden crate big enough to hold a desktop computer, the new book by sommelier Enrico Bernardo covers the most important wines of the twentieth century. Bernardo, who was named Best Sommelier of the World in 2004 and made his name at the Four Seasons George V in Paris, covers the most noteworthy vintages from around the globe. From 1928 Krug Champagne to the 1951 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 to the 1973 Stag's Leap Estate SLV, the wines included are exquisite enough to impress even the most well-read winos.

This DIY Christmas present revitalizes your favorite memories in a display to frame family and friends. Start with a photo that's cut to fit a glass bottle. Coat the front of the photo with glass decoupage using a foam paint brush. Press the photo face-down onto the outside surface of a bottle, smooth out air bubbles, and let the decoupage dry. Repeat this process on several bottles to create a sprawling display. Write cute Christmas notes and suspend them from a few of the bottle cork toppers using gold wires. This gift is perfect for memorializing old family Christmas photos for years to come — just add a new one each year.

Buying one gift is great, two gifts are fine, but buying too many gifts will diminish the value of each additional gift you give to them, rendering the sentiment essentially useless. More thought packed into a single gift beats half-a-dozen smaller ones. It’s not about physical size or the price tag. Understandable occasions are when it’s more than one item to complete a single gift; you wouldn’t buy him just dress pants, would you? You’d opt for a two or three-piece suit. Getting multiple unrelated gifts gives off the idea that you were in a frenzy, and while you threw money at the sentiment, that you were more panicked about getting gifts than making sure they were truly meaningful.
November brings us one legendary sale, but before then, it’s all about Veterans Day sales to seriously stock up on housewarming gifts, home appliances, and small electronics. This is one of the more minor sales when it comes to gift-giving, but still a noticeable blip on the radar. If he’s a bit culinary guy, you can grab him something along the lines of a new countertop appliance, or take a look at the selection of grills. If he’s in a more snowy environment, it’s a good time to grab one of these for later and gift it during the summer months.
"I bought this as a Father's Day gift for my dad, and he absolutely loves it! He has always wanted a… more smaller humidor, and has never had a cutting tool like the one in this package. I have purchased 3 other Man Crates in the past 8 months since I discovered this site. I cannot be more pleased with quality of the products, the level of customer service if I have any questions or issues with an order. This is all around 110% the best idea for any gifts! I refer ALL of my friends, family, and acquaintances!!" - Josh S. less
